Now. Personally I try to watch this show every day. It’s tough. but I manage to catch a good amount of the show. And a majority of episodes are brilliant. This bit however, far surpassed brilliance. On a very hot issue right now. There’s a proposal to build a mosque two blocks from ground zero. Wyatt Cenac goes on a journey to discover in perfect sarcasm how the muslims are taking over. John points out that there’s already a mosque 4 blocks from ground zero. That has been there since before the World Trade Center. Wyatt says “Oh my god. That’s their plan. Build a mosque every two blocks until they run the country.” In perfect timing, John replies “I think you’re thinking of starbucks.”
It’s on of my favorite bits. My only disappointment was seeing Wyatt Live at the Parlor. I didn’t find him that funny as a stand up comedian. I don’t know his background but it seemed as if he was a daily show member first, comic second or third. He had some amazing bit ideas that showed was a great writer and gifted thinker, but just hadn’t had time to devote to writing.
Anyway. The guy in the Fallaful? (whatever the fuck it was) stand had the best point. We preach freedom of religion, but we don’t practice it? That’s fucked up. This is why I give up on politics. I try to care once in a while. But they can’t just be real about it.
“The First Amendment protects freedom of religion,” said Jim Manley, a Reid spokesman. “Sen. Reid respects that but thinks that the mosque should be built some place else.”
Translation: Look. I know blacks have been given equal rights by the constitution. That’s great. but I still think we should use them as slaves.
My dad once told me “Never use the word ‘But’ (unless you’re sir mix a lot, then use a second T) Because it means you’re lying about everything you said before it. Try using the phrase ‘At the same time.’ you won’t sound like quite an idiot.” (you might have noticed in earlier videos “at the same time” was one of my crutch phrases I would use to transition in mid joke.
Now I think I made up the part about looking like an idiot but the rest of it was true. Adding “at the same time” to that quote above still doesn’t make the sentence any better or less appalling. Sometimes you can’t even put lipstick on a pig. Boom. That’s called great writing. lol. Bringing it home baby. Because we’re talking about phrases, and idiot politicians. Sarah Palin. Pig with lipstick. I give up on you people that I imagine not laughing when you read this. That was hilarious. Goodnight.
